Golden milk (or haldi doodh) has been an Indian grandmother's remedy for everything from colds to joint pain for generations. The western world discovered it around 2015 and promptly renamed it 'turmeric latte'. Whatever you call it, the underlying science is solid.

Curcumin — the active compound in turmeric — has potent anti-inflammatory properties. The key is to combine it with black pepper (which contains piperine, dramatically increasing curcumin absorption) and a source of fat (which curcumin is fat-soluble). Honey adds not just sweetness but its own anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties.

Here's the DVISSA version: Heat 250ml of full-fat milk (or almond/oat milk) until just below simmering. Add 1 tsp DVISSA turmeric powder, a pinch of black pepper, 1/4 tsp cinnamon, and a small piece of fresh ginger (optional). Whisk well. Remove from heat, allow to cool slightly to below 40°C, then stir in 1 tsp DVISSA raw forest honey. Never add honey to boiling liquid — it destroys the beneficial enzymes.

The result is warming, mildly spiced, and gently sweet. Drink it in the evening for its relaxing and anti-inflammatory properties, or first thing in the morning to support immunity. Children can have a smaller version with slightly more honey for sweetness.
